Read our story here. We started Singapore Math Inc. All of our programs preserve the techniques, sequencing, and rigor that define Singapore math.

Singapore consistently ranks at the top in international math testing. The intentional progression of concepts in the Singapore math approach instills a deep understanding of mathematics. Singapore students consistently rank among the top on both tests.

Our Singapore math programs raise U. The Singapore math method is focused on mastery, which is achieved through intentional sequencing of concepts. Some of the key features of the approach include the CPA Concrete, Pictorial, Abstract progression, number bonds, bar modeling, and mental math.

Instead of pushing through rote memorization, students learn to think mathematically and rely on the depth of knowledge gained in previous lessons. An attitude that math is important and approachable is also essential. Students perform at a higher level when their potential for understanding and success is assumed.

In typical U. In Singapore math, students must think through concepts and apply them in new ways from the very start. Singapore math not only helps students become more successful problem solvers, it helps them gain a sense of confidence and resourcefulness because it insists on conceptual depth.

This naturally prepares students to excel in more advanced math. This highly effective framework introduces concepts in a tangible way and progresses to increasing levels of abstraction. In the concrete phase, students interact with physical objects to model problems. In the pictorial phase, they make a mental connection between the objects they just handled and visual representations of those objects.

For example, real oranges or counters standing in for oranges are now represented as drawings of oranges. By varying the methods and phases of CPA fluidly, educators help reinforce important connections.

Students work towards math mastery when they view concepts with increasing levels of abstraction over time.By continuing to use sonlight. Click Accept to let us know you accept these terms and policies. Please contact us with any questions you may have.

My son will be in Missions to Modern Marvels this year. I am a bit confused by all the different math options this year. Is there a math choice that is the natural progression after finishing all the Singapore math books? I maybe should add that he is good at math and is even looking forward to more algebra! So, what math would be the best bridge to get him from Singapore 6B to algebra in World Geography? There are a lot of terrific things about the Singapore Primary Mathematics U.

Edition 1A through 6B! However, one difficulty is that it stops after 6B and switches to a new writer and a new format! As high school approaches, it can be tough to figure out a good transition between one math program and another. The transition was seamless even though the programs are different.

We had a good year with some concepts being very easy, and others being a bit harder. It is a wonderful course, but it is also very rigorous. This would help your student firm up any needed skills, making the transition to Algebra smoother in the long run. It would also make the 8th grade year less intense math-wise. Ultimately, this path will give your student a great foundation for the rigor of the math coming in high school! Thank you! I have been searching for these answers for ages.

My son began with Saxon in K and it was a flop. He is a good student and tests well in other subjects but math was a nightmare. By the middle of 3 we stopped Saxon because of tears and frustration. I found Singapore and thought I could pick up around grade 3 but his tests showed to start over. We did. Flash forward he is now a freshman. Since he will be ready for algebra then, we can start sophomore year on track with math. Thank you for your guidance — I now know where to go!

In the Dimensions Math program, concepts are introduced and explained in a new format with vibrant imagery, while the progression and scope that define Singapore math remain intact.

Workbooks offer independent practice while maintaining the careful progression of exercise variation. Lessons begin with a problem for students to solve, setting the stage for discussion.

Follow along using the slider below. The lesson opens with a Think activity, which uses everyday objects or manipulatives to get students to think concretely about the concepts. After spending some time with hands-on activities or word problems, the lesson progresses to the Learn portion, in which students see a pictorial representation directly related to the concrete phase of the lesson. Once students have mastered a concept with the use of concrete and pictorial aids, they are ready to take on more abstract mathematical problem sets.

They reach fluency by collecting various strategies along the way. Finally, students work through word problems that give them a sense of real-world application of math.

Students use the strategies they learned in earlier phases to both understand and solve these problems.

All lessons have a corresponding workbook exercise, which extends independent practice of mathematical concepts. A thoughtful progression pattern followed throughout the series covers the fundamental concepts, offers practice exercises with pictorial representations, and challenges students with abstract exercises. Provides various methods and activities to solve initial textbook problems or tasks. Test books are essential for evaluating student progress in an organized way. They are closely aligned with Textbook content.

Tests for Grades 1—5 have differentiated assessments. Each chapter has both a Test A and Test B, with Test A focusing on key concepts and fundamental problem-solving skills, and Test B focusing on the application of analytical skills and heuristics. Tests consist of multiple-choice questions that assess comprehension of key concepts, and free response questions for students to demonstrate their problem-solving skills. Tests for Kindergarten uses pictorially engaging questions to test student ability to grasp key concepts through various methods including circling, matching, coloring, drawing, and writing numbers.
